The 2016 Honda Accord adds to the legacy of a nameplate that represents one of the most highly acclaimed and best-selling cars in history. Already backed by Honda's reputation for reliability and durability, the 2016 Accord offers a plethora of attributes in its own right. It is part of the nameplate's ninth generation of production, and it is available in six variants: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, EX-L V-6, and Touring.
For safety, the 2016 Honda Accord has dual-stage front air bags for the driver and front passenger, front seat-mounted side impact air bags, and roof-mounted side curtain air bags for head protection. Also standard on the Accord are a multi-range rearview camera for backup or reverse monitoring, tire pressure monitoring system for ensuring the proper inflation of all tires, and Vehicle Stability Assist with traction control for maintaining traction and stability when on the road. Honda adds lane departure warning, forward collision warning, road departure mitigation, and collision mitigation braking on the Touring trim.
2016 Accord LX Specs And Features:
27 city / 37 hwy mpg**
2.4-liter Inline 4
Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)
The LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L trim of the 2016 Honda Accord is powered by the 2.4-liter K24W inline four-cylinder engine (I4). While the I4 on the Sport is tweaked to produce 189 horsepower, the engine produces 185 horsepower on the other three trims. Either way, the I4 is more than sufficient for driving at high speeds or climbing hills. The Touring and the aptly named EX-L V-6 come with the 3.5-liter J35Y V6 engine, which produces 278 horsepower and provides even quicker and more efficient performance. Fuel economy is also outstanding; for the absolute best results, go with the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), which helps yield 27 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 37 mpg on the highway**. The six-speed automatic and six-speed manual transmissions are not that far behind those numbers, though.
Designed as a spacious four-door sedan, the 2016 Honda Accord can accommodate up to five adult passengers. Ten-way power adjustability and power lumbar support on the driver's seat are added on all trims but the LX. The Touring and EX-L variants get a few more interior features: four-way power adjustability on the front passenger's seat, two-position memory on the driver's seat, heating capability on both front seats, and leather upholstery for all seats. The Touring is the only trim with heated rear seats.
For comfort and convenience, the 2016 Honda Accord is loaded with an assortment of amenities. They include power side mirrors, cruise control, front and rear cup holders, illuminated steering wheel-mounted controls, dual-zone automatic climate control system, Bluetooth wireless technology, and an 8-inch touchscreen multi-information display screen. Available or standard on some of the higher-end trims include GPS navigation, heated capability and turn-signal indicators on the side mirrors, push-button engine start, and auto-dimming rearview mirror.
