Get ready for exciting adventures in a subcompact crossover that can go the distance - no matter how far that distance is: the totally and completely new 2016 Honda HR-V! Ganley Honda is proud to present the drivers of Cleveland, Ohio with the newest member of the Honda vehicle family early next year; the HR-V is a subcompact crossover based on the highly rated Honda Fit, so you know that utility and versatility will abound in this stylish model.
The all-new HR-V is a model that is completely new to the Honda lineup, though it shares a platform with the popular Fit subcompact. It will slot below the CR-V in size and features a few styling cues from its big brother in the headlights and front grille. The exterior was given a fun, fresh look that's all its own; from the arched roofline to the shapely front fenders and the upswept shoulder line that ends near the rear doors in a hidden latch design. Inside the 2016 HR-V, you'll find the same versatility that makes the Fit so popular - Honda's "Magic Seat" makes a grand return - but with an interior volume (nearly 100 cu.ft. in some models) that might make you think "mid-size". The cabin and driver cockpit are clean and simple, without the cluttered dual-screen look of some larger models, and high-grade trims can be equipped with a classy touchscreen display for the entertainment system and safety alerts.
The powertrain you'll find in the HR-V is another thing this crossover shares with the beloved Fit; a perky 1.8-liter four-cylinder with 138 horsepower and rated for 127 lb-ft. of torque. Shoppers can choose either a six-speed manual or CVT gearbox and - unlike the Fit - either a front-wheel or all-wheel drivetrain (manual transmission is only available with front-wheel drive).
You'll enjoy copious standard features in the HR-V in both the safety and comfort categories. Safety amenities include a standard rear-view camera, tire pressure monitoring alerts, traction and stability control and a complement of advanced airbags. Convenience and comfort features will include standard equipment like full power accessories (locks, windows, and mirrors), a tilt/telescope steering column, supplemental audio controls on the steering wheel, and Bluetooth pairing for audio streaming. Some options that will be available include the aforementioned touchscreen, push-button ignition, Honda's LaneWatch system, paddle shifters for the CVT gearbox, satellite radio, heated front seats, navigation, leather upholstery, and a sunroof.
Safety and crash-test scores have not yet been released, but after seeing how well the Fit performed in both NHTSA and IIHS tests, you can be sure the HR-V will score well.
